Eat Local Week
Take a look at some of our past Eat Local Week Events!
Transition Sarasota’s Eat Local Week is an annual celebration of the best of local food and farming in Sarasota and Manatee counties. Each year, partners come together to offer events, including farm and garden tours, farm-to-fork dinners, workshops, educational programs, community discussions, and hands-on activities.
Eat Local Week exists to spark dialogue, build community, and showcase the fabulous work done locally!
As you celebrate Eat Local Week with us, we hope you’ll be inspired to take action when it comes to your local food decisions. You’ll find that small changes can make a big impact here in Southwest Florida.
Our 12th Annual Eat Local Week took place October 14-October 21, 2023
Local Food, Future Resilience was the theme for our 2023 Eat Local Week. Events included a fresh produce cooking demo at the Farmers Market at Lakewood Ranch, a farm tour at Honeyside Farms, a food forest tour, plant sales, and a medicinal & edible plant walk. The week of events ended with Big Mama’s Collard Green Fest.
Our 11th Annual Eat Local Week took place October 21-October 28, 2022
With a theme of Locally Rooted-Globally Connected, our 2022 Eat Local Week included a medicinal & edible plant walk, tour of ECO Vets new campus, a food photography class, and a tour of Siesta Key Rum. Despite the effects of Hurricane Ian, we were able to offer some great educational events to build community and appreciation for our local farmers and local food system.
Our Virtual 10th Annual Eat Local Week took place March 14-21, 2021.
With a theme of Dare to Grow, our 2021 Eat Local Week included virtual classes, a virtual tour of Mote Aquaculture Research Park tour, trivia night, a movie night, and a social media challege.
