Veggie up, Sarasota! Honeyside Farms, Worden Farm, Blumenberry Farm and Gamble Creek Farms announced their seasonal CSA-subscription opportunities for residents of Florida’s Suncoast.

It’s that time of year—CSA season! Community Supported Agriculture (CSA) has become a popular and intimate way for conscious consumers to support their local farmers, reaping delicious, seasonal produce in return.

The nature of how CSA programs work is you, the consumer (and locavore legend might we add), purchase a “crop share” from a local farm just as the harvest season begins. Throughout the growing season, share members (a.k.a veggie box subscription holders) receive your “shares” of just-harvested vegetables and other unique products on a weekly basis, celebrating the healthy harvest hand-in-hand with the farm itself.

Joining a CSA program is an easy step in making your food choices matter. Exercising your purchasing power to support our local resilience keeps the value of your dollar in our local economy. In choosing local and creating the food system that we want, we the consumers preserve the vibrance, heritage and production of our area’s agricultural businesses.
